Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting various providers including Pain Specialist, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Their duties include recording and updating medical histories in patient files, scheduling patient appointments, and performing standard care procedures such as drawing blood, checking vitals, and performing IM injections.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Clean and prepare medical rooms for provider
•Prepare injectables and medications
•Stock rooms
•Order supplies
•Chart in appropriate EMR system
•Scribe as needed for provider(s)
•Scan and fax documents
•Answer phones as needed
•Schedule appointments in EMR system
•Administer IM injections
•Perform blood draws
•Obtain/send medical records

•Familiar with EMR systems
•Proficient in communication via telephone.
Education and Experience:
•A High School Diploma or GED
•Graduated from accredited Medical Assistant Program with phlebotomy
•At least one-year related work experience is preferred
•Knowledge of medical terms or pain management is preferred
Physical Requirements:
•Requires the effective use of office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, phones, and printers.
•Ability to communicate in an active office environment.
•Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at times.
