Citizen Advocates is Hiring an INTERIM ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF NURSING-HOS Near Malone, NY

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Associate Director of Nursing, Housing and Outpatient Services (ADON-HOS) will report to the Director of Nursing, (DON) to aid with strategic vision and operational oversight of nursing services with a focus on the oversight of community living and outpatient services, including behavioral health clinics. The ADON-HOS and ADON of Behavioral Health Urgent Cares, (ADOH-BHUC) will work closely together to assist the DON in ensuring strict compliance and provision of safe and high-quality care that is representative of Citizen Advocates’ mission. The ADON-HOS will assist the DON with serving as a professional liaison and servant leader for all nursing teams within Citizen Advocates, while maintaining poise and composure in complex situations. The ADON-HOS must demonstrate effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, while communicating appropriately and effectively. The ADON-HOS will assist the DON with overing all nursing activities, implementation and development of policies and procedures to provide quality care. The ADON-HOS will assist the DON with driving the development and execution of short-and long-term strategic plans through continuous collaboration. The individual will assist with the oversight of current and future nursing services that further the competitive position of the organization while having a strong knowledge base and ensuring strict compliance with OPWDD, OMH and OASAS policy and procedure.


Essential Functions (Job Duties)

  • Work Closely with the ADON-BHUC and other agency Associate Directors
  • Assist DON with providing oversight and support to the nursing personnel workflow and practice, by participating in review, analysis and appraisal of efficiency, productivity, and quality. Focus will be on Community Living and Outpatient Supports, including Outpatient Behavioral Health. However, the ADOH-HOS may be asked to provide leadership support to the Behavioral Health Urgent Care centers including on call notifications. Will participate in on call notifications for departments directly overseeing.
  • Assist DON with implementing quality improvement efforts, through effective staff and provider involvement, project management, and communication. Implements timely changes and keeps staff and providers up to date with clear, concise, and professional communications.
  • Assist DON with development and implementation of documents, policies, procedures, and protocols that ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations.
  • Assist with education, monitoring, reporting and control of infection control related issues.
  • Acts as a resource in identifying, communicating and/or offering solutions for nursing/operational problems in partnership with operations team.
  • Assure service satisfaction by acting as a resource in identifying, investigating, and resolving administrative/operational and care problems or complaints related to nursing or other department if required, in partnership with operations team.
  • Provide guidance and support for supervisory, and field nursing staff.
  • Respond and communicate promptly and effectively to DON, staff, client, and provider concerns according to policy and procedure.
  • Communicate to DON promptly and effectively addresses any client, family/representative and provider concerns regarding care needs, nurse staffing, and implemented policy and procedure.
  • Works closely with the DON to ensure adherence to all auditing schedules.
  • Assist DON with monitoring progress, implementing appropriate adjustments, and finding innovative solutions to obstacles or barriers
  • Provides counsel to direct report staff appropriately and in a timely manner concerning areas of deficiency as well as areas of excellence and quality improvement.
  • Works closely with the DON, HR and Compliance department and adheres to all auditing schedules.
  • Acts as a thought leader, by maintaining knowledge base of current regulations, evidenced based clinical standards of care, practice and innovations.
  • Assists with execution of business plans by assigning accountability to appropriate and competent staff and/or providers, monitoring progress, making appropriate adjustments, finding innovative solutions to obstacles or barriers and reporting up.
  • In the absences of or as directed by DON, participates in Senior Leadership and inter- departmental meetings, and serves as a liaison to outside organizations.
  • Assist with evaluating and proactively managing nurse staffing ratios and staffing schedules to ensure agency meets regulatory and safe patient requirements.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring and development of new job standards as needed.
  • Assist with the continuous evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of nursing services to ensure delivery meets current evidenced based standards of care, identify opportunities for improving services and outcomes and follows professional standards of care.
  • Participates in a wide variety of related projects and other duties in support of efficient department operations.
  • Makes announced and unannounced visits to service areas as necessary.
  • Assist with payroll, and scheduling to ensuring nurse coverage meets regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains a New York State driver's license.

Travel

Travel will be frequent.

Required Education and Experience


  • Registered Nurse degree with a valid New York State RN license.
  • Continuing professional education required.
  • Will provide mandatory trainings as needed.
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
