Job Summary:

A skilled and experienced tradesperson who has the ability, or can quickly learn, to construct a wide variety of things on a commercial construction project, including concrete forms, building frameworks, stairways, setting window and door frames, installing hardware, installing cabinets, finishing trim, siding, drywall, and specialty items. You should be adept in the use of a variety of tools of the trade, whether hand or power

What You Will Do:

  • Understand and interpret plans and specifications.
    • Review plans or sketches, identifying potential issues and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Plan and prepare daily work plans.
    • Determine the kind of tools and equipment required to do the job.
    • Determine personnel needs and communicate the same to the Superintendent.
    • Determine materials required, ensure everything required to complete the job is planned for, scheduled, and on-site, on time, through ongoing communication with the Superintendent and/or Project Manager.
  • Perform carpentry work.
    • Construct and install structures or fixtures such as roofs, walls, doors, windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters’ hand or power tools.
    • Erect scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
    • Operate machinery and equipment such as skid steer, telehandler, etc., as needed to move materials into place.
    • Perform work efficiently and accurately minimizing rework of installed materials.
    • Utilize logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of approaches to issues as they arise.
  • Assist fellow team members in light demolition activities needed for the project.
  • Take responsibility to clean up your work areas daily and make sure the jobsite is free of debris and a safe environment to work in for all trades working on site.
  • Follow Established Safety Rules
    • Along with the Superintendent, assist with daily pre-job hazard analyses.
    • Maintain and support all safety efforts on the jobsite, being a role model for all disciplines.
  • Track time spent on different projects and different tasks being worked on and submit an accurate timecard weekly.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in all phases of commercial or residential construction and/or maintenance.
  • Proficient in commercial carpentry, including rough and finish work, cabinet, trim, door, and window installation with commercial hardware.
  • Basic understanding of construction mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to operate construction equipment like forklifts, loaders, and skid steers.
  • Knowledgeable about construction materials, methods, arithmetic, and geometry.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA rules and regulations, including proper use of safety gear and power tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Efficient time management and task prioritization.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and responsible in completing work tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and follow specific rules.

Where You Will Be:

Job sites can be outdoors on construction sites, enduring various weather conditions and potentially noisy or hazardous environments, occasionally in cramped spaces or at heights.

Your Physical Requirements:

While performing duties, you are regularly required to:

  • Sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, and squat, talk and hear.
  • Use hands to operate tools, handle objects, and control equipment.
  • Lift, push, pull, carry, and move up to and potentially exceeding fifty (50) pounds, sometimes with assistance.
  • Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support the body repeatedly without fatigue.
  • Make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objects.
