The Field Service Technician is responsible for delivering, installing, diagnosing, and repairing products. These products include industrial batteries, chargers, and battery handling equipment, as well as other products deemed necessary to build and maintain a satisfied and profitable customer base. 

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Build strong relationships with customers. 
  • Perform equipment diagnostics and repairs: 
    • Batteries - including load tests, cell replacements, cable repairs, connector replacements, and contact tip replacements. 
    • Chargers - including ferroresonant, SCR, and high-frequency technologies. 
    • Battery Handling Equipment & Accessories - including battery changers, battery wash cabinets, battery watering systems, electronic battery rotation systems, and battery monitoring systems. 
  • Execute planned maintenance agreements, including: 
    • Battery inspections, battery watering, battery washing, and recording of cell voltages and specific gravities.
    • Charger inspections, calibrations, and adjustments. 
  • Coordinate problem resolution with Technical Support, Customer Service, Sales, and other personnel to expedite repairs. 
  • Install and/or assist in the installation of batteries, chargers, battery/charger stands, battery handling systems, multi-level battery racking systems, man-on-board battery changers, battery monitoring systems, and battery watering systems including iTag. 
  • Travel to other branches or job-sites as required to assist with product installation, removal or repairs (some overnight travel will be required). 

 Expectations 

  • Comply with company policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT and Hazmat. 
  • Follow all safety regulations, including site specific safety regulations established by customers, at all times. 
  • Take ownership of all company assets, including but not limited to vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment. 
  • Complete all service orders, PM worksheets, time cards, expense reports, and any documentation as required, in an accurate and timely manner. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

Education & Technical Expertise 

  • High School Diploma required; AAS Degree/Tech School preferred. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and computer skills are required. 
  • 3 years general maintenance experience (material handling industry is highly preferred). 

Interpersonal Skills 

  • Organize own work and work independently, with limited supervision. 
  • Work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs. 
  • Clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and listen well to customer needs. 
  • Develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction.

  • Highly independent with strong work ethic. 
  • Team player, with a positive mental attitude. 
  • Organized and focused on customer satisfaction. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Work schedule can vary and may require irregular hours. 
  • Work may require out of town travel, which could be for long periods. 
  • Depending on the assigned facility, work conditions may include extreme heat or cold. 
  • Significant walking and prolonged periods of standing are required. 
  • Loads of 75-100 pounds must be lifted periodically.
