Full Time - Days

Position summary: Filing and follow-up of claims on a timely basis by utilizing in depth knowledge of industry standards.

General purpose: Time management, customer service, problem resolution.

Role qualifications:

Education

• High school graduate

Experience

• Hospital billing experience preferred

Licenses/Certificate

• None

Position responsibilities:

• File claims and follow-up for all commercial, Champus/Veterans, Workman’s compensation, motor vehicle accident, and funds/Black Lung.
• Process all liability claims with lien letter unless they have health insurance.
• Become knowledgeable with electronic claims software.
• Call insurance/attorneys regarding status of claims.
• Print aging summary and work to reduce accounts receivable.
• Answer questions that patients may have regarding claims.
• Become familiar with other jobs within department and help cover evening/weekend positions.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
• Take appropriate action on correspondence received from insurance companies.
• Post insurance payments as directed.
• Work holiday rotation and cover evening/weekend as needed
• Follow up on work queues
