Title: Special Education Teacher/ 504 & RTI Coordinator

Employment Status: Full-time Reporting

Reports to: Principal

Location: Assigned Campus

Essential Functions:

Manage, Support, and Provide Modified Instruction:

  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to provide specialized instruction and support to pre-identified students with special education needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans to address the unique requirements of each student.
  • Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic growth.

Program Compliance Evaluation:

  • Assist the special education coordinator in evaluating the program's compliance with state and federal special education regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures to maintain compliance and enhance the quality of special education services.

RTI Process Oversight:

  • Oversee the Response to Intervention (RTI) process, including the identification of academic gaps in students.
  • Organize and conduct RTI meetings to collaborate with teachers, interventionists, and parents to develop appropriate interventions for students experiencing academic challenges.
  • Track the effectiveness of interventions and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes.

Student, Teacher, and Family Support:

  • Provide ongoing follow-up and communication with students, teachers, and families regarding the progress of students in the intervention process.
  • Offer guidance and resources to teachers and families to enhance their ability to support students with special needs.

Initiate and Own the RTI/504 Process:

  • Identify and recommend students for the RTI and 504 processes when necessary.
  • Take ownership of the RTI and 504 processes, ensuring that all required documentation, meetings, and accommodations are in place.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.
  • Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
  • Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.
  • Schedules team meetings and works cooperatively with child study team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.
  • Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
  • Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualized instruction using appropriate sources including i-pads.
  • Serves as primary contact for the parent.
  • Provides direction, supervision and evaluation of educational assistants as directed.
  • Complies with School Board policies and all state/federal rules and regulations.
  • Completes all district and state reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • State teaching certification and special education endorsement.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with students, teachers, families, and administrators.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to effectively manage caseloads and documentation.
  • Data analysis skills to assess student progress and intervention effectiveness.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and provide leadership in the RTI/504 process

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $73,978.00 per year
