GMR Protection Resources is Hiring an Executive Protection (EP) and Event Security Lead Near Mc Lean, VA

The Executive Protection (EP) and Event Security Lead is a critical member of the Global Workplace Services Team at our client location that oversees the safety and security of the Executive Management Team and coordination of security protocols for a variety of high-profile events. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in security management, threat assessment and strategic planning. The individual will be responsible for leading a team of security professionals, developing, and implementing balanced security protocols in line with our client’s culture and industry and ensuring the highest level of protection for all designated individuals, events, and properties.

These services may require long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be willing to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%), sometimes on short notice. This position is fully on-site and is based in Mclean, VA. Residency in VA is a requirement for this position.

  • In-depth knowledge of security protocols, threat assessment methodologies and risk management strategies

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations
  • The ability to navigate ambiguity with ease and exercise a high degree of autonomy in decision making while adapting to and championing change
  • Demonstrated discretion, professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information and high-profile individuals
  • A strong external safety and security network to support the team in benchmarking exercises, development opportunities and participation in industry events

Responsibilities include:

  • Development and execution of a comprehensive executive protection program and strategy that aligns with the client organization’s goals and objectives
  • Managing and leading a team of security professionals across a matrixed environment
  • Updating and testing emergency response plans and crisis management protocols, ensuring the safety and well-being of executives during critical incidents
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and regularly updating security protocols to mitigate potential threats to executives and client company assets
  • Preparing and delivering regular reports to senior management detailing security initiatives, incidents, risk assessments and recommended actions for improvement
  • Overseeing and/or directly participating in the development and implementation of security plans in support of client company special events
  • Developing and directing response and red team exercises to enhance preparedness and identifying training opportunities and/or security vulnerabilities
  • Coordinating closely with client’s internal stakeholders such as HR, Legal, Risk and Compliance to ensure alignment with client’s company policies and procedures
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with client’s executive support staff, leadership across Global Workplace Services, Cyber Security, Corporate Events, and other key client internal partners
  • Staying informed on the latest security trends, technologies, industry best practices and emerging threats to continuously enhance the client organization’s security measures
  • Remaining on-call and available to manage security-related emergencies or incidents, demonstrating quick decision-making and crisis management skills

Basic Requirements:

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and U.S. passport
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 10 years’ experience in executive protection, security management or a related field in a corporate security environment with at least 7 years in a leadership role

Preferred Requirements:

  • Executive Protection Experience in Corporate Security with a Fortune 200 Company
  • Advanced degree
  • CPR, Basic First Aid Training
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification
  • Experience with residential alarm systems, CCTV, and digital video systems integration
  • Graduate of reputable executive protection training program
  • Evasive / defensive driver training
  • Experience in various defensive tactics including the use of force
  • Established relationships with law enforcement, intelligence communities, threat management and industry specific organizations such as ATAP, IPSB, CEPLC, ASIS and others
  • Proficient in Google suite products

Additional Information:

  • Residency in VA is required.
  • This position will be unarmed; however, the role may transition to an armed role in the future. Accordingly, HR 218 and/or concealed carry license required for this position.
