Job Description:
The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This individual maintains a hybrid server enviorment and is focused on the health and wellness of the organization's Microsoft 365 tenant. This Junior Admin reports to the Senior Systems Administrator and works closely with the overall Technology support staff.
This individual is accountable for the following systems and platforms: Windows Server OS, VEEAM Backup, VMware, HP Server platforms, NetApp storage devices, full Office 365 platform including scripting / automation. Responsibilities on these systems include engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.
This position may also have the opportunity to teach academic classes in the Informatics division in addition to assisting with Loyola's Cybersecurity Initiative after school.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Administration
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  • Maintain and configure windows group policy.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
Operations and Support
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, cloud platforms, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled automation tasks.
  • Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
Qualifications
  • Systems Administration/System Engineer certification preferred
  • Experience with managing and automating tasks within Office 365
  • Proficiency with PowerShell and Python
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
