Director of Athletics Communications

Position Description

The Mid-South Conference is a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which is composed of 7 full member institutions in Kentucky and Tennessee and 14 affiliate sport members. The Director of Athletics Communications reports directly to the Commissioner and will manage all sports information duties for the conference as well as assist with conference championships.

Responsibilities:

· Serve as the athletic communications and sports information contact for the conference office.

· Using various forms of social media, promote the Conference via publication of competition results, conference events, awards, etc. and promote student-athletes within the conference for both athletic and non-athletic accomplishments.

· Maintain close association with, and serve as the primary liaison to, the institutional Directors of Sports Information. Coordinating with the NAIA communications department as required.

· Serve as the primary contact for managing and fulfilling any marketing relationships with the MSC to ensure fulfillment of agreed terms.

· Coordinate the MSC award programs serving as Awards Committee Chair and promote award recipients - athlete of the week, All-Conference, sportsmanship, coach of the year, academic awards, and other awards as developed/requested.

· Assist in the organization, preparation and production of all championship events and attend events as directed.

· Oversee and manage MSC Audio/Video streaming efforts.

· Assist in ordering and distribution of postseason awards; provide templates and printing assistance for certificates.

· Oversee, enhance, and maintain the MSC website.

· Maintain a working knowledge of web-streaming solutions and statistical web streaming solutions and coordinate as directed.

· Update and maintain comprehensive archives - including awards, statistics, standings, champions, tournament winners and records.

· Create championship materials including webpages, programs, scripts, etc.

· Assist with the development of conference schedules update schedules, as necessary.

· Represent the MSC at conference meetings and conference championships.

· Administrative function in all MSC meetings including meeting minutes and motions.

· Serve as conference ASA (Association of Student Athletes) advisor and plan and conduct leadership programs.

· Update, maintain, and distribute conference bylaws, policies and procedures, and sport manuals.

· Knowledgeable of basic MSC/NAIA policy regarding operations, playing rules and eligibility.

· Supervise Graduate Assistants and Interns during office hours and event management.

· Perform related duties to meet the needs of the Conference as assigned by the Commissioner.

Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree required.

· Master’s Degree is preferred.

Required Qualifications

· Willingness to relocate to conference headquarters in Bowling Green, KY.

· The successful candidates must be highly organized, meticulous and must be able to multitask in a fast-paced work environment and have the ability to manage and prioritize several ongoing projects.

· Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and coordinate athletic events and programs is required.

· Must have verbal and written communications skills.

Technical Skills:

· Must have proficient experience using Microsoft or google suite of products (word processing and spread sheets) and project management software.

· Must have proficient experience with Adobe Suite products, such as but not limited to: Photoshop, InDesign, etc.

· Must have proficient experience working with website content management solutions.

· Must have Canva and/or graphic design capabilities. Overview:

Pay: $36,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
