STATEMENT OF THE AGENCY
Commonpoint Queens is a non-profit, multi service agency with a flagship site in Forest Hills and 33 additional sites throughout the community that provides a diverse array of programs and services to over 35,000. Our mission is to sustain and enhance the quality of family and individual life for all members of our community, regardless of religion, ethnic or cultural background, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual preference, age, or disability, within a pervasive and inclusive environment that facilitates individual growth, meets individual needs and builds community. Seasonal Position
POSITION DETAILS:
UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE UNIT HEAD, THE CAMP COUNSELOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAILY SUPERVISION AND SAFETY OF THE CHILDREN. THE CAMP COUNSELOR WILL ALSO ASSIST THE UNIT HEAD IN PLANNING GOALS AND ACTIVITIES FOR ALL OF THE CHILDREN.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Supervise children between Kindergarten and 8th grade to ensure their safety and general well-being, including knowing their whereabouts at all times.
● Flexibility to work in different areas of the program.
● Assist in maintaining accurate records including attendance and incident logs.
● Support the Unit Head in program duties
● Working collectively and communicating with all peer staff.
● Attend all training and staff meetings.
● Follow through on activity schedules and lesson plans
● Participate in farm activities - egg harvesting, painting, agriculture, etc.
● Ready to swim up to two times a week.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED CO MPETENCIES:
● Experience in childcare in a school setting is preferable.
● Excellent social skills. Must be friendly, engaging and patient.
● Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
● Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
● Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize daily workload.
● Demonstrate cultural competence.
● Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills.
Job Details
Work schedule: 6/26/2024 -8/16/2024. Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Must be available every day that camp is in session from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and for staff trainings/meetings pre-camp.
Salary: Summer Camp is a salary job. $1900 - $3000 based on Qualifications and Experience
