Job Title: Association Director of Fundraising

Status: Exempt/Full-Time

Salary: Based on Experience

Reports to: CEO

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The aDirector of Fundraising at the YMCA of Middletown will work with the organization’s existing donor base, as well as cultivate new donors to ensure the YMCA of Middletown is meeting annual goals for our financial assistance program. The Director of Fundraising will also be responsible to organize, implement and support several special events in which proceeds go to the Annual Support Campaign, better known as the Strong Kids Campaign. In addition, the rDirector of Fundraising will be responsible for all donor relations including management of all donor acknowledgements and recognition. The Director of Fundraising will work with a variety of foundations and funders to secure annual support, and ensure that all reporting requirements are fulfilled.

OUR Mission:

The YMCA is a community-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to putting Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Our YMCA began its service in 1882, and over the years, has expanded its reach to serve all of Orange County and part of Southern Sullivan County. Currently, we operate two full YMCA facilities, in Middletown and Monroe, the YMCA Center For Youth Programs, in Middletown, home of our First Step Preschool, and the YMCA of Sullivan County, and environmental center, in Rock Hill, NY. Additionally, the organization operates 24 before and After School childcare sites and operates five summer day camps throughout Orange and Sullivan Counties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Help create an annual campaign strategy for the Y in collaboration with executive leadership and committed volunteers.

2. Support YMCA staff and volunteers through training and coaching, to increase success with direct, face to face solicitation efforts.

3. Collaborate with executive leadership to develop communication and campaign strategies to successfully market the annual campaign. Support plans to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors.

4. Represent the Y through strong written communications, public speaking and articulate delivery of mission and fundraising needs.

5. Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors including 5 touch points through the year.

6. Oversee data management of annual gifts and conducts regular analysis and reporting of annual campaign progress.

7. Establish systems for timely and appropriate acknowledgements of annual campaign gifts.

8. Oversee prospect and donor correspondence.

9. Manage and submit select grant proposals, requested by CEO.

10. Translate organization goals into an achievable plan, keeping staff and volunteers on task, by setting duties, conveying priorities, and importance of programs, projects and events.

11. Assist YMCA Leadership Staff with special campaign events, projects and fundraising committees.

12. Leads and Assist CEO with any future Capital Campaign projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with 3 or more years fundraising experience in leading & supporting annual giving campaigns and special events.

· Proven experience in cultivating and soliciting gifts of all sizes and types.

· Familiarity with the principles of annual campaign organization and marketing.

· Experience working closely with volunteers as well as assist with recruitment of volunteers for special events.

· Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills.

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, volunteers, senior leaders, and the general public.

· Understanding the mission of the YMCA and the impact we have on those we serve.

YMCA Team Leader certification preferred or willing to achieve.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone.

· The employee will travel throughout the YMCA’s service area. There may be opportunities to travel for training, related to furthering job skills.

· As the position requires the employee to plan, oversee and conduct events, the candidate must be able to physically set up and break down equipment that may weigh up to 30lbs.
