The Budget Analyst III acts as a business partner to an operating or functional area and is responsible for examining budget estimates for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with procedures and regulations. This role will analyze budgets and accounting reports for the purpose of maintaining expenditure controls. The ability to efficiently complete work by cutoffs, be assertive, and balance multiple and conflicting priorities while providing timely customer support are keys to success!

Responsibilities/Expectations:
  • Analyzes costs and expenditures to provide status, progress reports and variance analysis; Meets with leaders to recommend changes for upcoming forecast cycle
  • Monitors resource allocation against projected baseline expenditures; Identifies anomalies and suggests course correction as appropriate
  • Reviews contracts, invoices, and requests for services entered into our accounting systems for payment/approval
  • Provides user support for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting; Uses center-led guidance to help leaders develop expense targets for their areas that will meet enterprise objectives
  • Maintains/ensures accuracy of database information to provide support to our internal business partners
  • Performs various cost studies, benchmarking, and other statistical analysis to identify trends and projections
  • Reviews Variances with leaders and suggests course correction
  • Uses center-led enterprise guidance and discussion with leaders to develop an expense target for their specific area that will meet the enterprise objectives
  • Spends adequate time analyzing and identifying trends using standard reports and expense categories (fixed, variable, periodic)
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of our standard policy and procedure documentation for budgeting and forecasting
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
  • Required: High School Diploma/GED and minimum of four (4) years' related experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree
Other Requirements:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to analyze data, make evaluations, and resolve problems
  • Needs proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement mentality
  • Able to lead teams through system changes and mentor others to develop expense management abilities
