Paint Process Engineer - Greencastle, Indiana
Disher is currently partnering with an automotive manufacturing company in their search for a Paint Process Engineer. In this role you will contribute insights and recommendations to the Paint Operations team regarding plant performance across Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery metrics. Your role involves providing technical expertise regarding the design and implementation of integrated systems, particularly focusing on new paint processes. Additionally, you'll be responsible for ensuring optimal performance of paint robots through meticulous programming, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders. Moreover, you'll support annual maintenance activities, facilitate training sessions, stay updated on industry advancements, and assist in maintaining environmental health and safety standards related to paint and solvent usage.

What you'll get to do:
    • Provide input to Paint Operations team on goals and key indicators of plant performance for Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery, including improvements in waste elimination, quality, process, ISO documentation, operating system controls, material flow, footprint development, manual and robotic spray processes, spray efficiency, capital budgeting, shift reports, and other equipment
    • Provide technical support on the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of people, materials and equipment, i.e., adding a new paint process
    • Provide highly technical paint robot programming, paint application and technical expertise in robot trouble shooting. Minimize robotic downtime by systematically and proactively monitoring part performance and spare part status; prioritize schedule of replacement
    • Collaborate with plant personnel, contractors, and equipment suppliers in repair/improvement work
    • Support annual shutdowns for preventive maintenance, 5S, and equipment updates
    • Collaborate with Training on manual spray and robotic spray training requirements for Production and Maintenance personnel
    • Maintain current knowledge level of emerging concepts, techniques and technologies related to our processes
    • Review product material data sheets for new paint and solvent material to ensure adherence to required specifications

What will make you successful:
    • BS required in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical other related Engineering discipline
    • Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing setting
    • Minimum of 2 years preferred in a Tier One Parts and/or OEM Automotive Paint Shop operation
    • Expertise in paint process and equipment transfer efficiency, quality checks and verifications
    • Detailed knowledge of paint application equipment, pretreatment systems, paint shop productivity improvement practices, tools, and methods
    • Expertise in back up and restoration of all robot programs with paint parameters and fluid presets
    • High level of computer skill proficiency including Microsoft Office, robot programming and adjustments for trouble shooting initiatives
    • Experience with robotic programming preferred
