About Operation Food Search:

Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search is a hunger relief organization that provides food, nutrition education and innovative programs in order to reduce food insecurity and increase equitable access to food. We serve 200,000 people every month through a network of 330 partners in 40 counties in Missouri and Illinois. We use a combination of immediate food assistance and supportive services, while also working on long-term solutions and systemic changes to help solve the problem of hunger.

Position Summary:

The Data Strategy Manager reports to the Chief Program Officer and will work with leaders across the organization to develop and implement processes to increase the effectiveness of our work. The Data Strategy Manager will provide strategic leadership to support our ability to improve and expand impact. The role requires a highly skilled communicator who can motivate individuals at all levels of the organization and a self-starter who enjoys building systems from the ground up. The ideal candidate values constant improvement and has a strong ability to use data in storytelling.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the organization-wide data strategy, including the development of policies, protocols, and procedures related to data collection and management.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to design, implement, and monitor all evaluation activities for performance management and quality improvement.
  • Create a data dashboard to assist in reporting needs and real-time analysis of progress toward goals.
  • In partnership with program leaders, identify key programmatic indicators and ensure timely input and tracking of metrics.
  • Develop workflows for data collection and guide staff in capturing data accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide strategic leadership to program staff by identifying improvement opportunities and potential gaps.
  • Communicate key programmatic insights to a variety of stakeholders, including staff, board members, partners, funders, and government officials.
  • Engage program staff through training and on-going education to ensure data strategies are consistently and effectively adhered to.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, business, health promotion, organizational development, public health, social work, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years increasing responsibility in project management and/or evaluation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience collecting and utilizing data to inform program development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with a variety of evaluation tools and database

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced data management skills with a demonstrated ability to disseminate data to various audiences.
  • Strong understanding of program evaluation and capacity to synthesize complex information and make recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and desire to effectively work with staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions.
  • Flexibility to accommodate different learning styes in trainings and presentations.
  • Familiar and comfortable using the Microsoft Suite; able and willing to learn other software programs.
  • Passion for the OFS mission.
  • Experience in food security, social services, and/or healthcare field(s).
  • Knowledge of local community organizations and programs.
  • Familiarity with Apricot or similar databases.

Special Requirements:

  • Occasional travel required for meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Flexibility in working hours for occasional special after-hours events or weekend activities.
  • Willingness to volunteer for other OFS duties that don't fall under regular job duties.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Sedentary inside office work with limited exposure to weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, both indoors and outdoors
