24 Days PTO! - Use it, Cash it, Roll itPotential Company BonusesTuition Reimbursement 401k Retirement PlanHealth Insurance (Medical, Vision, and Dental)Healthcare and Dependent Care FSAShort and Long-Term DisabilityEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Basic Life Insurance Position Overview Performs patient cellular therapy collections using automated technology.Depending on patient, venous access is obtained by either peripheral venipuncture or access to central venous catheter.Administers medications to patients if indicated by ordering physician and/or Medical Director.In absence of cellular therapy patients, the RN Coordinator performs donor apheresis or other donor collections.Demonstrates excellent customer service that promotes professional image of The Blood Connection.Responsible for coordinating workflow for the Cellular Therapy Collection Department.Essential Functions Cellular Therapy Collections:Performs various cellular therapy collections using automated technologyEnsures cellular therapy patients are collected within timeframe and guidelines established by ordering serviceEnsures adequate coverage of patient collections and customer needs through appropriate schedulingEnsures collected products are shipped in accordance to guidelines established by ordering servicePerforms central venous catheter (CVC) access and care. If required, performs CVC dressing changePerforms peripheral venous accessAdministers medications to patients if indicated by ordering physician and/or Medical Director and ensures right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, at right timeCoordinates closely with ordering physician to ensure optimal patient careEnsures adequate supplies on hand to perform cellular therapy procedures; orders supply when necessary; ensures supplies have not expiredProvides cellular therapy training for applicable Donor Services staffObtains at least 10 hours of continuing education annually as required by FACTDonor Collections: In absence of cellular therapy collections, performs donor apheresis collections and/or other donor collections (if trained)Performs donor screening, phlebotomy, and post donation careDepartments: Adheres to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and external regulatory standardsStays abreast of new trends, technology, regulations as related to apheresis and cellular therapyActs as a resource for non-nursing collection staffAbides with requirements listed in contract between GHS hospital and TBC regarding cellular therapy collectionsDonor Advocate/ Donor Reaction Management – serves as a contact for staff and donors in follow up when there is a circumstance where injury or reaction is suspected or identifiedDocuments interaction with donor in reaction data baseOther Duties: Workflow Coordination: Schedules Cellular Therapy Collections for GHS Cancer InstituteSchedules Cellular Therapy Collections for DendreonEnsures departmental procedures, processes and policies are current with FDA, AABB, CLIA and FACTStays abreast of new regulations, practices, and technologies regarding Cellular Therapy CollectionsParticipates in internal and external auditsAttends weekly Cancer Institute QA meetings as requiredMaintains close, professional communication with Cancer Institute’s MDs and RNsAssists with interviewing and hiring acceptable Cellular Therapy Collection staffMakes recommendations for disciplinary action of Cellular Therapy Collection staff if needed and notifies Director of Mobile Operations, Cellular Therapy and Donor Advocacy to ensure appropriate measures are taken and documentation obtainedPerforms donor reactions and injury follow up; ensures donor receives proper care regarding reaction/injury; ensures donor’s medical bills are approved for payment as required; communicates with risk management group (Western Mitigation) when involving possible litigation casesEnsures GHS contract staff requirements are metOther duties as assigned or requiredMinimum QualificationsMinimum two-year College Degree in NursingApheresis or Dialysis background preferredProficient in performing and understanding patient central line careAbility to operate/learn automated collection devicesAbility to follow SOP in a heavily FDA regulated environmentAbility to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlinesExcellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skillsStrong computer skills including intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workersAbility to work with all levels and in a diverse work environmentAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers.Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
