About Families First: Founded in 1996, Families First is a (501) non-profit organization committed to helping adults and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Southeastern Vermont.
Families First is seeking 2-3 to support a young man living with an intellectual disability. The staff member would be expected to stay in the Families First home that the young man currently resides in. There is a bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom that staff can use during their shifts.
This position entails working 2 to 3 days in a row, once a week, in the young man's home.
This is a salaried position that pays $35,000 a year with benefits.
Schedules available;
- Sunday & Monday (48 hours, 8am-8am)
- Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday (72 hours, 8am-8am)
- Friday & Saturday (48 hours, 8am-8am)
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred although not required. This young man requires support as he transitions into adulthood to learn new skills. These skills include but are not limited to; cooking, cleaning, reading, financial independence, emotional regulation, and leisure skills.
The ideal person for this position is someone active that enjoys playing sports and engaging in the community. Staff should be patient and able to stay calm during difficult/emotional moments. A great sense of humor and a 'go with the flow' attitude is a plus!
Reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License are required, as you may be traveling throughout Windham County. Candidates must be able to pass background and reference checks. Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) will also be offered as a part of this role.
