City Of Corona is Hiring a Meter Service Technician Near Corona, CA


The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as a Meter Service Technician. At Corona’s Utilities Department, we strive to deliver the best customer service to all of our residents and businesses, with safety and reliability as our top priorities. The Utilities Department is comprised of five divisions including Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed Water, Electric and Solid Waste. There are many opportunities to collaborate with other state and local agencies as well as other departments and employees on a regular basis while working on day-to-day tasks and a variety of projects. We provide a 4/10 work schedule (Mon-Thu) for most positions and rotating schedules for operations staff. Education/Training/Experience:

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. 
  • Two (2) years of customer service or meter service/repair experience; government or public utility experience is desirable.
  • A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s Vehicle Insurance Policy.
Skills/Abilities
  • Read and perform maintenance and repair work on a variety of water meter types.
  • Identify and respond to water service issues.
  • Read and interpret various maps, plans, specification sheets, and operating manuals.
  • Safely and effectively use and operate hand tools, mechanical equipment, power tools, and equipment required for the work.

The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants' qualifications. Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a written exam tentatively scheduled to take place on June 4, 2024. Applicants with a passing written exam score will be invited to participate in an oral interview tentatively scheduled to take place on June 11, 2024.
