Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and 60 college hours or paraprofessional or substitute certification

Reports to: Building Principal and Media Center Specialist

Goal: To provide an enviroment with a wide range of materials to promote intellectual growth and assist staff/student in using the medical center and its resources.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and supervise media center.
• Inform teachers of and assist in the selection of materials to supplement the instructional program.
• Maintain a comprehensive system for cataloging materials and instruct staff/students on how to use it.
• Assist with reference work and library skill development.
• Attend all required meetings.
• Complete all required reports and paperwork.
• Offer reading advice to students.
• Promote reading with displays, exhibits, promotions.
• Manage overdue notices and collection of fines.
• Readies materials for reserve at teacher request.
• Assist in locating materials.
• Read to students when appropriate.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Keep confidentialities and respect student privacy.
• Keep the Principal informed of appropriate issues.
• Make decisions for the best interest of the District and within Board policies and CSIP objectives.
• Promote positive relations between the building, District, Board and community.
• Work to achieve District goals adopted by the Board.
• Execute all policies, rules and regulations adopted by the Board.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Superintendent and/or Board.

Evaluation: Annually by the Building Principal in accordance with policy.

A criminal fingerprint/background clearance is required.
