POSITION SUMMARY:

Assures completion of all housekeeping and laundry tasks. Assumes responsibility for general cleanliness of the building. Monitors needed janitorial and maintenance work as requested.

REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/DESIGNEE

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for Residents.
  2. Monitors inventory of chemicals, supplies and equipment needed for laundry and housekeeping tasks.
  3. Communicates chemical, supply and equipment need to Executive Director/Designee.
  4. Maintains required records; uses Maintenance Request Log appropriately.
  5. Familiarizes self with cleaning schedules of Residents’ apartments and common areas to assure completion of housekeeping tasks.
  6. Performs housekeeping, janitorial tasks, and minor repairs as assigned.
  7. Assures that other janitorial and repair requests are properly logged and monitors their completion.
  8. Provides laundry services as needed and/or directed.
  9. Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
  10. Observes problems, concerns, and issues observed with Resident units, the community, and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
  11. Observes changes in Resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately.
  12. Observes other problems and communicates them appropriately.
  13. Observes all work, safety, and administrative rules.
  14. Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
  15. Records Resident information as required.
  16. Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment.
  17. Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergencies.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services.
  2. Ability/willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
  3. Keeps all information confidential.
  4. Maintains acceptable attendance record/follows work schedule.
  5. Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks and requires minimal supervision. Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and/or overtime.
  6. Displays cleanliness, good grooming, personal appearance and follows dress requirements consistently.
  7. Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.
  8. Displays ability/willingness to learn new skills and to teach others.
  9. Interacts in professional manner with Residents, public and co-workers. Works cooperatively with management. Displays willingness to assist co-workers when situation requires.
  10. Ability to do occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), 30 lbs. regularly.
  11. Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability; able to communicate effectively.
  12. Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly.
  13. Is free of non-treated communicable disease.
  14. CPR/First Aid Certified.
  15. Ability to work safely and to recognize potentially dangerous situations.
  16. Ability/willingness to follow all policies and procedures.
  17. Is neat, accurate, dependable and keeps work/space clean.
  18. Ability/willingness to work longer than eight (8) hour shift; to work holidays or overtime and to work a seven (7) day schedule.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Working knowledge of equipment, supplies, and chemicals used for housekeeping and laundry tasks in public use buildings. Experience in working in a licensed care setting preferred. CPR/First Aid Certified.

EDUCATION:

Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred. Attendance at in-service training. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Drivers are responsible for transporting residents, staff, or handling deliveries in a timely manner, and may have to work nights and weekends to accomplish their duties. Drivers may also assist Maintenance in completing general work around the community. 

REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Transport residents, staff and/or packages to and from destinations
  2. Arrive at destinations on schedule
  3. Fulfill administrative needs as assigned
  4. Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays
  5. Use navigation applications to determine the best route, if available
  6. Always interact with residents and staff professionally
  7. Ensure that the community vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
  8. Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
  9. Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
  10. Assist residents to transfer onto the vehicle and into seating
  11. Operate van lift
  12. Keep community vehicles clean inside and out
  13. Complete motor vehicle check list prior to and after each trip.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma. 
  2. A minimum of one year of driving vans for seniors. 
  3. Hold valid driver’s license in the state where the Community is located. Must have clean driving record and meet all other employee requirements. 
  4. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. 
  5. Must function independently with minimal supervision, be flexible in scheduling, have personal integrity, be able to work effectively with residents, personnel, outside vendors, and other support agencies. 
  6. Must be able to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without exposing them to additional health risks.
  7. May assist Maintenance Director in keep facility in compliance with government regulations including OSHA, Life Safety Code, and assisted living regulations, if applicable.
  8. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in emergency situations.
  9. Must always maintain a professional appearance and attitude.

PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of activities and must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds, carry, drive, pull, push, squat, bend, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, twist, grasp, and feel to perform assigned duties.
  • The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and frequent interruptions. May be subject to extreme weather conditions (i.e., temperatures below 32 degrees and over 90 degrees). 
  • May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays when necessary. Scheduled hours may change to meet resident and community needs.
