Bethany Lutheran Preschool is Hiring an Assistant Teacher Near Alexandria, VA
- MDO (Mom's Day Out) Teacher 8:30am-1:00 pm.
- Minimum of 1-year experience working with children.
- Be a positive, caring person with enthusiasm for caring for children.
- Teach children about the love of Jesus through positive role-modeling, gentle and consistent temperament, and caring relationships.
- Assist the lead teacher in preparing age-appropriate materials for each day’s activities.
- Support other staff by being a positive role model and providing guidance when working with each other and children.
- Assist lead teacher in classroom management.
- Follow positive discipline policies as outlined in the staff manual.
- Help prepare, serve and clean up snacks for students.
- Serve, supervise and participate in family-style lunch with the children.
- Help directly supervise children outside.
- Assist with keeping track of children’s clothing and change diapers as needed
- Administer first aid when necessary, as trained: report all accidents/incidents on appropriate forms.
- Help keep room neat and orderly; give attention to unassigned areas, such as corridors, staff room, and storage closets. Report any problems to the director.
- Call the director in a timely manner when ill.
- Be punctual.
- Follow positive discipline policies and outlined in the staff handbook.
- Have stamina, both physical and emotional, to work with young children.
- Demonstrate initiative and competence in working effectively without close supervision.
