CHS Original is Hiring a Master's Level Clinical Internship Near Renton, WA

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Akin is seeking Master’s Level Clinical Interns to support us in achieving our mission, vision, goals, and values. The Clinical Intern will provide a full range of direct and indirect services to children and their families presenting with a wide variety of emotional and behavioral disorders. Services include family therapy, individual child therapy, group treatment in a school setting, ongoing case management, assessment, treatment and discharge planning, and advocacy. Delivery of therapeutic services in the office, in foster or birth homes, as well as in a community setting.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Responsible for completing initial intake as well as a comprehensive assessment and determination of DC-05/DSM V diagnosis, with an MHP and developmental testing.
  • Assists in developing strength-based, goal-oriented treatment plans, which address the specific needs of the family and specific anticipated clinical outcomes.
  • Possibility of participating in multidisciplinary meetings with parents, sources of referral, and allied service providers to establish goals and coordinate services.
  • Provides therapy in clients’ homes, schools, community settings and/or Childhaven therapeutic centers.
  • Provides direct treatment services, group therapy, and group facilitation to assigned cases, including case management, crisis intervention, home visits, referral and advocacy, and therapy in a culturally sensitive and family focused, strength-based manner. Provides discharge planning as well.
  • Maintains complete documentation of the child’s case records in the designated HER, including assessments, progress notes, individual treatment plan, discharge summaries, and other internal paperwork as needed. Maintains consumer records in keeping with Agency, County, and State guidelines.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable agency contracts and adheres to all Federal, State, and Local confidentiality requirements and guidelines. Performs periodic reviews of documentation on regular basis when required by supervisor or when need arises (self-audit).
  • Participates in scheduled supervision, clinical team meetings, quarterly psychiatrist consult meetings, and other staff and administrative team meetings.
  • Maintains ethical, competent, and healthy client relationships, communication skills, and boundaries.
  • Complies with and adheres to mandated reporting requirements of child abuse.
  • Complies with all Childhaven policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good standing and participation in a Master’s degree program in Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or closely related field.
  • Ability to apply for and obtain Agency Affiliated status with the Department of Health and NPI number before internship begins.
  • Commitment to a 12-month internship.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development, ability to relate well with parents, adolescents/teens, and superb communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently or participate with the team.
  • Able to prioritize work and effectively manage requirements.
  • Able to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, have state required minimum automobile insurance, and be able to use own vehicle for the internship, including driving to different community locations and offices to provide services to families.
  • Verifiable safe driving record and ability to pass the Childhaven background check.
