Job Description:

Are you looking for an early career opportunity to further your education and learn more about the engineering field? If so, then welcome to Schnabel! We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time intern with a Civil Engineering background to support our growing business. The emphasis for this position is for the intern to develop their skills in mathematics, problem solving, data analysis, communication, and teamwork under the guidance of experienced professionals in the industry. The position will be held from June through August 2024.

The 2024 Summer Internship will run for 10 weeks from June 24 through August 30, 2024. The intern will work in the Schnabel’s Seattle branch office 20 hours per week. Compensation will be $20 per hour.

Job Responsibilities:

• Observing and documenting geotechnical investigations
• Assisting with plan review and geotechnical analyses
• Assisting with the interpretation of laboratory data and soil properties.
• Assisting with geotechnical report preparation
• Performing engineering calculations under the direction of trained staff
• Performing construction observation and materials testing
• Administrative tasks

Required Skills/Experience:

• Is 18 years or older by the start of the internship
• Has graduated high school and be in transition to higher education by the start of the internship
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
• Has an understanding of calculus fundamentals
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors
