Job Summary:
The Boys and Girls Club of Milford is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Summer Camp Counselors. As a Youth Development Professional, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children attending our summer camp program. You will be responsible for supervising campers, leading activities, fostering positive relationships, and promoting the physical, emotional, and social development of each child.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and ensure the safety of campers at all times during camp activities, field trips, and free play periods.
• Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities for campers.
• Foster positive relationships with campers, providing guidance, support, and encouragement as needed.
• Serve as a positive role model for campers, exhibiting leadership, responsibility, and integrity.
• Implement behavior management strategies consistently and effectively, promoting a supportive and respectful camp environment.
• Communicate effectively with campers, parents, fellow staff members, and supervisors to address concerns, share information, and coordinate activities.
• Collaborate with other camp counselors and staff members to ensure the smooth operation of daily camp activities and special events.
• Assist with the setup, cleanup, and maintenance of camp facilities, equipment, and supplies.
• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
• Adhere to all Boys and Girls Club of Milford policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those related to safety, health, and confidentiality.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in education, recreation, or related field preferred).
• Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Successful completion of background check and screening process.

This is a seasonal position for the duration of the summer camp program, with the possibility of extension based on performance and program needs. Join us in making a difference in the lives of children and families in our community!

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.69 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
