North Suffolk is looking for a Part- Time School Navigator to join our team! School Navigators provide intensive case management to vulnerable 8-13 year old students and their families within a school based setting. This position is based inside the Winthrop Public School system.

The School Navigator works with students to implement the tasks identified on their individual change plan and amends as clinically necessary or recommended by supervising clinician. You will work to identify student’s needs through clinical assessment and refer students/families to appropriate services, as well as assist families in navigating to social service programs. Work with students to identify, develop and facilitate engaging and age-appropriate activities for an after school setting which are trauma informed and developmentally applicable.

This position follows the school's holiday/summer vacation calendar which allows an average of 3 months of remote work from home.

• Part Time (20hrs): Located at the Arthur T. Cummings School

What you’ll do:

• Outreach and engage students and their families referred by school administration, teachers and law enforcement.
• Establish weekly individual and group contact with each student on case load.
• Maintain weekly communication with family, teachers and collaterals involved with the student.
• Provide information and referral, resource advocacy, and other direct services to help families promote healthy habits to reduce the risk of addiction and criminal involvement.
• Assist collaterals in supporting families as they strive to meet treatment goals and maintain appropriate communication with respect to confidentiality.
• Participate in family events, after school field trips, and other incentive based activities.
• Provide education, advocacy, and support on child and parenting issues and information to student families.
• Maintain all confidentiality and all other professional standards and attend staff meetings and bi-monthly clinical reviews as required.

What you’ll need:

• Education:
  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred or at least three years of direct training and experience working with young children, adolescents, and families.
• Experience:
  • Previous experience with crisis intervention, trauma sensitive populations, family preservation work, and mediation desired.
• Skills:
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred - salary differential for needed language skills!
