This is a remote position. The selected colleague will generally be expected to work at an MUFG office periodically. A member of our recruitment team will discuss location preferences with you in more detail.

Term employees are hired with the intention to work for a limited period of time ranging from 6 months to 2 years.

Job Summary:

The Regulatory Operations and Affairs (RO & A) function within Operational Effectiveness Office (OEO) at MUFG in the Americas is charged with improving regulatory outcomes by demonstrating subject matter expertise in regulatory remediation. The group is charged with both the strategic and tactical management of regulatory agency relationships. Responsibilities include ensuring the continued administrative support for the regulatory activities and relationships, which includes exam and meeting management, review of deliverables, and serves as central point of contact for all regulatory inquiries or requests. RO & A will promote clear and consistent internal & external communications, identify emerging regulatory issues and guide the development and implementation of management’s strategy concerning regulatory matters. This will include being responsible for change management for major new regulatory initiatives or rules implementation. RO & A oversees critical regulatory processes including the examination lifecycle, remediation and clearance of examination findings and ad hoc regulatory requests.

This position, Regulatory Editor, will report directly to the Head of Regulatory Remediation – Risk Governance, Managing Director, who in turn reports directly to The Head of Regulatory Operations & Affairs. Objectives include providing thought leadership, regulatory expertise, and collaboration on supervisory activities – such as providing review and comments on regulatory submissions, quality control reviews of reports submitted for regulatory filings or meetings; and supporting forms of communication with regulatory agencies to ensure proper alignment with supervisory expectations and consistent with bank policy and where applicable regulatory guidance. They will coordinate closely with Head of Regulatory Affairs Office, Managing Director.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

  • This position (Director) will report directly to Head of Regulatory Remediation – Risk Governance, Managing Director. They will support critical regulatory remediation work, including enforcement actions and committee oversight (Critical Regulatory Matters Review).
  • Head of Regulatory Operations and Affairs, Chief Operations Effectiveness Officer, Managing Director, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Managing Director, Head of Regulatory Remediation-Technology and Operations, and All Regulators

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a dedicated regulatory expert and advisor providing guidance, and recommended strategies and edits for written communications.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to advise RO & A personnel to ensure they understand regulatory priorities and can properly communicate practices that may not meet regulatory expectations.

Ideal education, experience and requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • A minimum of 10 or more years industry experience; 8 or more years relevant work experience to include serving as a regulator or interfacing with regulators
  • Experience collaborating with key resources and stakeholders, influencing decisions, and managing work to achieve strategic goals required
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment.
  • Subject-matter-expertise on laws and regulations applicable to large financial institutions (e.g. OCC Heightened Standards, FFIEC Handbooks and Guidance and Federal Reserve Supervision letters & guidance)
  • Subject-matter-expertise in the development and communication of complex materials both verbally and in writing considering the appropriate audience

The typical base pay range for this role is between $45 per hour - $60 per hour depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
