Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is now accepting applications for a part-time, temporary Custodian role. The Custodian will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining the institution's sanitation standards, working up to 28 hours per week in the evenings.

Job Duties

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the buildings, including, but not limited to sanitizing high-touch surfaces like doors, desks, computers, tables, counters, sinks, etc.; sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting and cleaning furniture; emptying trash receptacles both inside and outside of the building; cleaning and disinfecting walls, floors, and fixtures in restrooms; cleaning windows and glass doors, and perform other duties as assigned. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a maintenance or custodial worker is preferred but not required.
• Ability to adapt to changing assignments and manage multiple tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
• Ability to use tools and equipment to perform tasks related to custodial upkeep.
• Knowledge of equipment used in the custodial field.
• Ability to follow instructions on chemicals used for cleaning and proper safety procedures.
• A positive, mature attitude and dependability are required.
• Ability to do repetitive movements and tasks.
• Basic computer skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS (physical demands):

• Must be able to knee lift up to 20 pounds
• Walking or constantly standing; must be able to climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crouch.
• Requires attention to detail.
