REPORTS TO: Principal/Athletic Director Job Overview: The Middle School Soccer Coach is responsible for organizing and leading the soccer program at the middle school level. This role involves teaching fundamental soccer skills, fostering teamwork, promoting sportsmanship, and creating a positive and inclusive environment for student-athletes. Key Responsibilities: Player Development: Instruct and demonstrate fundamental soccer skills, including passing, shooting, dribbling, and defensive techniques. Plan and conduct regular practice sessions to enhance individual and team skills. Foster a love for the game by creating engaging and age-appropriate drills and activities. Team Management: Select and organize teams based on skill levels and team dynamics. Develop effective strategies for both offensive and defensive play. Encourage a positive and supportive team culture that emphasizes collaboration and good sportsmanship. Game Preparation: Analyze opponents and strategize game plans. Ensure players are aware of game rules and regulations. Provide guidance on effective communication and decision-making during matches. Safety and Wellness: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices and games. Instruct players on proper warm-up and cool-down routines to prevent injuries. Monitor and address any health concerns or injuries promptly. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, school administration, and other relevant stakeholders. Provide regular updates on team performance, schedules, and any changes in plans. Sportsmanship and Character Development: Instill values of fair play, respect, and teamwork. Serve as a positive role model for students, emphasizing the importance of good sportsmanship on and off the field. Equipment and Facilities Management: Ensure that all soccer equipment is properly maintained and in good condition. Coordinate with school officials to secure and maintain suitable practice and game facilities.
