DC Bilingual is recruiting a Part Time - After School Hive Program Teacher for the 2022-2023 School Year. DCB is seeking motivated staff that are committed to the school’s mission and will bring professionalism, urgency, and dedication to the school environment. All staff are expected to work collaboratively within our professional learning community (PLC). JOB RESPONSIBILITIESComplete and submit all lesson plans for classroom activities in a timely mannerExecute all curricula with high energy and positivity, and in a manner which actively engages all studentsBuild relationships with each child by welcoming children each day, engaging in conversations, responding to their needs, and always ensuring student safetyAssist with the guidance of children’s learning by talking about their work, providing additional information to extend their learning, and asking open-ended questionsBe flexible with all areas of the jobModel a consistent philosophical and caring approach to working with childrenCommunicate with parents on student progress on a weekly basisInput daily attendance and snack counts, and set-up classrooms as neededDemonstrate competence in working with diverse populations and a respect for different points-of-viewMaintain open communication lines between your co-teacher and DCB staffFacilitate project-based learning in age-appropriate ways on FridaysCollaborate with the Hive program partners in all areas of support and provide support to the Hive program leadership team as neededAttend all scheduled professional developmentParticipate and contribute to the development of the program through regular attendance in team meetings, conferences and staff development retreatsAdhere to the No Nonsense Nurture expectations for managing student relations and behaviorsMeet all expectations as outlined by the DC Bilingual Leading and Learning FrameworkAbide by the DC Bilingual 7 AgreementsDemonstrate dedication to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) by supporting school-wide initiatives and programsOther duties as assigned REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalentTwo or more years of experience (preferably in an urban or culturally diverse setting)Belief that every child can learn and reach high levels of academic achievement and that every child has a right to a quality educationBelief that each member of the school community (including students, families, teachers and staff) is a valuable contributor and an integral part of students’ successStrong commitment to children’s learning and continued social developmentStrong commitment to continuous improvement and professional developmentEffective communication skills with children and adultsAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with co-workersBilingual preferred but not required (Spanish/English)Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTSThis position has supervisory responsibilities.
