Head Teacher
Head Start – Northern Region
Full-time (30 Hours per week) Part Year
General Responsibility: Oversee the daily operations of a classroom and to provide the children with an educational program that is conducive to optimal development.
Specific Responsibilities:Be knowledgeable about developmentally appropriate practices and the Head Start Performance Standards, planning according to the individual needs of each child, completing education paperwork, conducting developmental assessments, documenting assessment data in the web-based data management system, conducting observations of children daily, encouraging family engagement in the program, conducting home visits per the Performance Standards, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, providing Responsive Caregiving to all children and promoting the school readiness of children and families in the program.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood preferred, a minimum of Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education is required. Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards certificate also preferred.
Special Qualifications: Applicants must be skilled in building positive relationships with children, families and colleagues. Experience is a must. Demonstrate an understanding of everyone’s experiences, every day. Ensuring the delivery of services that recognizes and respects that every moment matters.
