Part-time (2:00 pm to 10:00 pm). This role includes weekends. We seek responsible individuals to work with young people aged 12 to 20 in a highly secure setting. Successful candidates are great communicators passionate about helping young people meet their individual goals and contribute to a positive peer community. The starting pay rate is commensurate with relevant experience.

The youth in this program may receive individual counseling emphasizing personal accountability and restorative justice. The youth worker develops professional relationships with the youth and serves as a mentor.

Youth Workers supervise, guide, and ensure a safe and secure environment that fosters personal development for young people assigned to detention or long-term treatment in Spectrum’s highly secure facilities. Our facilities are licensed by the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and comply with all Child Welfare licensing requirements.

Youth Workers in our facilities provide a highly structured, treatment-focused experience for young people who benefit from positive role models who can mentor them toward improved decision-making and accountability. Youth Workers develop positive professional relationships while mentoring young people. Play a vital role in preparing youth for their subsequent placement or return to the community.

Must meet the following requirements

Minimum of HS Diploma or GED Must complete and return a record of no findings on the DHHS Central Registry Clearance, a criminal history background check free of felony convictions, a physical examination which indicates satisfactory health status free from communicable diseases including TB, and physical ability to perform the functions of this job description with or without accommodation. Must have reliable transportation and a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
