The San Diego Convention Center is located on sparkling San Diego Bay in the heart of a vibrant downtown. Abundant, flexible space and five-star service make the San Diego Convention Center the meeting planner's choice for hosting major conventions, trade shows, meetings and special events. The San Diego Convention Center has 2.6 million sq. ft. to include 72 meeting/banquet rooms, eight exhibit halls, two ballrooms and a special events area - the Sails Pavilion, 138-seat capacity onsite restaurant and 36-seat bar, 8 concession stands in exhibit halls, 2 full-service kitchens, portable specialty services and 3 Starbucks lobby operations. Some of the many types of events offered at the San Diego Convention Center include the annual Comic Con and ESRI shows, full service plated dinners and buffet & reception events.

We are currently seeking Bar Captain at the San Diego Convention Center.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Contribute to the efficient operation of business unit by assisting Banquet/Bar Management in executing events and functions in accordance with Sodexo Live's! standards, guest expectations and specifications as per Banquet Event Orders and catering contacts.
• Monitor and ensure that tasks are completed by bar staff in an effective and efficient manner.
• Ensure proper procedures are followed for all bars when reporting requisitions, transfers, bar sheets and banks
• Ensure proper cash handling and liquor control procedures are followed
• Create and develop an operational plan for each event for all bar staff, to ensure bars are placed in appropriate locations according to event requirements and proper and to ensure complete set-up and stocking of all bars prior to an event
• Uphold Sodexo Live's standards for guest service, safety, sanitation, and product quality.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum three (3) years Beverage Captain/Managerial experience is essential
• Thorough knowledge of industry service standard and state/local alcohol laws
• Must be alcohol certified
• Leadership experience
• Ability to lift & carry 35 pounds
• Ability to work in fast paced environment

Other requirements:

• Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to work in extremes of cold to heat.
• Must be able to exert well-paced mobility to maneuver quickly among different areas of the facility.
