Job Title - Counselor - Family Visitation

Program - Visitation

Location - 1250 Lakewood Road, Toms River

Position – Part-Time

Job Description/Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and trauma informed team member to provide counseling for court mandated families with a goal of establishing and maintaining their parent/child relationships. Our services are in-person at the program location in Toms River.

Required Competencies

* Conducting assessments

* Facilitating parent/child interaction and bonding

* Completing timely documentation in EHR and data tracking website.

* Day and Evening hours

* Meeting with supervisor for case consultation as required.

• Document any significant information the child(ren) or visitor(s) may reveal during visits;

• Confirm visits and/or pickups according to program policies and case specific details;

• Maintain confidentiality and no contact between case parties as outlined in program policies and court orders;

• Handle any problems or concerns of custodial and non custodial parties and bring them to the attention of the Program Director and if necessary make report to central resistry;

• Supervise family visitation and maintain safety and well-being of children

• Document relevant interaction between family members

• Ensure program policies are maintained by consumers;

• Ensure court ordered requirements are maintained;

• Intervene when it is in the interest of the child(ren) to do so or when instructed by case specific information;

• Communicate with Program Assistant to prepare and mail out letters and reports when required

• Complete paperwork as outlined in policy and procedure manual;

• Maintain caseload of 5 or more families

Competencies

  • Must maintain required CPR and first aid education/certification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft windows and word
  • Proficiently communicates - written and verbal
  • Exhibits critical thinking
  • Demonstrates empathy and compassion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience working with youth and families during times of separation (legal and or DCP&P)
  • Candidates must possess a strong ability to set boundaries, and be skilled in documentation, and collaboration.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license in good standing
  • Day and Evening hours
