Welcomes and provides information to visitors of the Okaloosa County Welcome Centers. Provides promotional and administrative support to department teams as assigned.• Greets visitors in a professional and inviting manner. Collects information regarding visitor’s length of stay, where they are visiting from, where they are staying, etc. • Provides printed materials, internet resources and answers visitor questions as related to Okaloosa County lodging, adventures, landmarks, history, restaurants, etc. as applicable to tourism.• Maintains organization of the assigned Welcome Center and the storage areas; maintains inventory of rack card displays and ensures they are well stocked.• Answers telephone calls and responds to email messages directed to the Welcome Center.• Restocks Visitor Guides in information display boxes throughout the local area.• Prepares and mails Visitor Guides; prepares and distributes promotional items, as needed.• Adjusts hours and location as needed to greet visitors, guests and residents in the assigned Welcome Center, including on weekends and holidays.• Performs other duties as assigned.Education, Training, and Experience: High School diploma or GED supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in customer service or public relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge of local area and events is required. Licenses and/or Certifications: Requires a valid driver license.Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to operate office equipment, to include computers, copy/fax machines, and any related peripherals. . Must be able to exert 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. May require bending, stooping and twisting. Physical demands are essentially those of sedentary work. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, professional journals, etc. in moderately complex terminology. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats and adhering to all rules of grammar, spelling, diction and punctuation. Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds. Must be able to communicate effectively in English and to articulate information to others. Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public.
