Hillsboro Medical Center is Hiring a Nurse Educator | Clinical Education, Perioperative Services- Relo available Near Hillsboro, OR

Hourly rate is from $46.00 to $70.00 depending on experience

Position is Part-time: 30 hours/week

Relocation assistance available up to $15,000

The Nurse Educator (Clinical Specialty Leader - CSL) is a Registered Nurse (RN) who is the identified clinical role model and content expert for programs or defined areas and scope of nursing practice. Provides leadership in the integration of new knowledge and innovation within clinical specialty area(s) and facilitates excellence through evidence-based standards of care. Leads programs and initiatives that align with organization's mission and strategic plan.

The CSL partners with the nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care in compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures. Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates educational programs for the orientation and development of clinical staff to address regulatory requirements and/or quality improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advances the profession and the specialty through mentoring and contributions to the professional development of others.
  • Determines current and future educational needs of clinicians and employees within their professional sphere of influence.
  • Leads development of annual education plans, core competencies, new product equipment and policy and practice updates based on assessed needs, internal data and ongoing external environmental scanning.
  • Assures programs are consistent with organizational priorities and goals; uses evidence when suggesting new practices or constructing educational programs.
  • Assists preceptors to develop effective preceptor skills such as conflict resolution, teaching-learning strategies, constructive feedback and methods for fostering critical thinking skills.
  • Maintains Nurse Residency programs, supporting transitions to practice and between practice settings.

Job Related Skills, Abilities & Behaviors

  • Experience in educational program development including curriculum implementation and evaluation. Experienced in using teaching strategies appropriate to adult learners.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with public speaking skills
  • Responds appropriately to learner’s needs for clarification or feedback; provides positive and constructive feedback
  • Disseminates research, EBP, and quality improvement findings through activities such as presentations, publications, and consultation.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Master of Science in Nursing can be used in lieu of BSN.

Required Experience: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a registered nurse with two (2) years recent experience in the specialty area applying for.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Oregon.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS

Peri-op:

  • American Heart Association Provider PALS

Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:

  • Excellent customer service & communication skills.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and practices, as well as nursing process and its applications to patient care.
  • Must be able to develop skills to use the technology used in home care setting.
  • Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served (adult and geriatric) patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages.
  • Follows infection control and transmission-based precaution procedures.
