Title: ESL Tutor

Reports to: ESL Lead Teacher/ ESL Program Specialist

Terms of Employment: 10 Months/Part Time Position

Salary: Pay Grade Minimum $19.00 Hourly

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

To support English language acquisition and knowledge of grade-level concepts for newcomer English language learners.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS

• Work as an itinerant ESL tutor serving immigrant students weekly under the guidance of the Title III Lead teacher
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests, and abilities of English learners from kindergarten to 12^th grade
• Schedule ESL pull-out tutoring instruction that is aligned to the district service plan
• Plan lessons using the state adopted WIDA standards
• Collaborate with content teachers and ESL teachers to strategically meet the needs of newcomer English learners.
• May attend ESL staff meetings/PLCs
• May participate in staff development opportunities
• Maintain a high level of organizational skills

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs other related work as required

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Must hold a current North Carolina Teaching License
• College degree
• ESL certification (preferred but not required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of reaching, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. They must perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. He/she must possess the visual acuity to prepare figures and data, operate a computer, and proof work.
