Job Summary:

Food and Beverage Cocktail Servers ensure that all guests are served to The Betsy standard in the bar and lounge areas. Cocktail Servers take orders and serve food and beverage to guests in a friendly, timely and efficient manner, always displaying the highest standards of hospitality and exceptional knowledge of wines, beers, and cocktails.

Responsibilities and Duties Include but Not Limited to the Following:

  • Greets guests and presents them with appropriate menus.
  • Informs guests about the special items for the day and menu changes, if any.
  • Answers questions about all items on the menu, including specific ingredients and preparation methods. Suggests food and beverage options to the guests by adhering to The Betsy upselling strategy.
  • Takes food and beverage orders from the guest on the order taking pads and enters order accurately into the Point of Sale (POS) system. Enters special requirements made by the guests while ordering the food utilizing The Betsy’s special requirements standard codes.
  • Serves food and beverage to the guest as per the course of the order, adhering to the proper standard ticket times set by The Betsy.
  • Properly opens and pours wine at the tableside.
  • Observes guests and ensures their satisfaction with the food and service quality. Promptly responds to guests with any additional requests.
  • Maintains proper dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, and refilling glasses.
  • Utilizes the POS system to obtain guest revenues, issue receipts, accept payments, and return the change to guests.
  • Coordinates with the Kitchen and Bar Staff to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction.
  • Adheres to The Betsy grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Understands and can communicate products and services available at The Betsy.
  • Assists Bussers and Barbacks with stocking and maintaining the restaurant par stock levels and side stations.
  • Assists other areas of the restaurant such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions.
  • If requested by a supervisor, prints closing reports and drops cash following proper cash handling procedures. Tallies the credit card settlements for the day with the batch closing report from EDC machine.
  • Closes the shift on the POS terminal.
  • Performs additional tasks as required by management.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Server in a high volume, high end bar or restaurant environment is preferred.
  • Must be able to:
    • Speak, read, write, and understand the English. Spanish is desirable;
    • Stand and walk for extended periods of time;
    • Lift, pull, push and handle up to 25 lbs of weight;
    • Use a point of sale system and related devices;
    • Follow detailed instruction;
    • Work well with others;
    • Work efficiently and effectively in a high-pace environment.
  • Must be:
    • Detail-oriented;
    • Organized;
    • Professional;
    • Friendly;
