Part Time Legal Assistant

The Adams County Public Defender is seeking applicants for a legal assistant. The position will require general clerical duties, including maintaining calendars for legal staff, scheduling appointments, maintaining client files both physically and digitally, interacting with public defender clients in-person and electronically, and limited preparation of court documents and official correspondence. Additional duties may be included based on prior experience and effective performance. The position also requires a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.

This position is part-time, approximately 15-20 hours per week, within M-F 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Potential to transition to a full-time position based on performance and departmental need. Competitive pay based on applicable experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent

• Excellent communication and people skills

• Attention to detail

• Well-organized and reliable

• Able to multi-task and use time efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior office experience, especially in a legal setting

• Understanding of general legal and court procedures

• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook

Training will be available for otherwise qualified candidates.
