JOB TITLE: Advanced Placement Exam Proctor
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt
PAY GRADE/DAYS OF DUTY: $20-hr/Part-time Seasonal
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: District Advanced Academics Coordinator and Campus Principal
DEPARTMENT: Instruction and Advanced Academics

Job Summary
Serves as exam room proctor or exam reader for College Board Advanced Placement (AP®) exams for which students are registered and adheres to College Board, ETS, and district assessment testing integrity and security during the May national exam administration.
Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Associate's/Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • Minimum of three years education experience

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assumes primary responsibility as test room supervisor or exam reader during the Advanced Placement (AP®) administration window at assigned high school campus.
  • Ensures a controlled environment free of examination misconduct as outlined by the College Board and immediately informs and provides AP Site Coordinator with details of any incidents witnessed, to be documented in accordance with incident reporting procedures.
  • Completes accurate exam seating charts as illustrated by AP Services for each testing room and exam subject administration to be archived for campus and district files.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of all exam related materials for campus, department and district archives and College Board submission.
  • Ensures students have properly identified AP® exam materials with appropriate AP number and section labels.
  • Ensures students adhere to each exam section instructions and work accordingly to AP Reader prompts within the designated exam section.
  • Ensures students utilize appropriate and approved writing tool for designated exam sections, as outlined by general instructions.
  • Ensures students utilize appropriate and approved calculator for designated exam(s), as outlined by general instructions.
  • Thoroughly reads and adheres to AP exam General Instructions and subject-specific exam instructions as provided by the AP Site Coordinator.
  • Ensures a time piece is visible (analog or digital) and not internet accessible or announces/posts at intervals the time remaining for each exam or exam section
  • Collects and accounts for all exam materials and arranges according to College Board guidelines for AP Site Coordinator review, storage and shipment.
  • Administers accommodated exams in adherence to College Board Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) guidelines and instructions.
  • Attends specific training and administers AP® exams that require technology application, audio equipment and other exam room technology.
  • Adheres to role as outlined by the College Board AP Coordinator's Manual, Part 2.
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with administrators, school personnel and students.
  • Complies with additional district or campus guidelines as directed by Instruction and Advanced Academics and campus administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Professional experience working with students from diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Excellent organizational, oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain confidential, accurate student records and information. Willingness to adhere to non-traditional work hours as needed for a.m. and/or p.m. administration windows.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (up to 25 pounds)
Environment: Classroom, Assessment and/or Administration Suite, Technology Lab, Gymnasium, Fine Arts Wing
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.

Follows health and safety protocols as established by the Texas Education Agency and Birdville ISD Board of Trustees.
