Child CPST Counselor

A Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) counselor will:

• Provide ongoing individual and group counseling sessions to clients, utilizing evidence-based techniques to address symptoms, improve coping skills, and enhance overall functioning. Offer emotional support, encouragement, and empowerment to clients as they navigate their mental health journey.
• Assist clients in acquiring essential life skills, such as problem-solving, communication, stress management, and socialization. Deliver psychoeducational sessions on topics related to mental health, medication management, relapse prevention, and community resources to promote self-awareness and self-advocacy.
• Coordinate with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and community agencies, to ensure comprehensive care and continuity of services for clients. Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare system and community settings.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing acute mental health crises or emergencies. Assess risk factors, implement safety plans, and connect clients with appropriate emergency services or resources as needed to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and outcome measures, in compliance with regulatory standards and agency policies. Prepare timely reports and documentation for internal review, external audits, and billing purposes. 

A Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST) counselor should:

• Be supportive, patient, and a positive person
• Have some experience helping people with emotional or behavioral challenges
• Learn independently
• Function well as part of a dynamic team

Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field

Individual and Group Supervision will be provided
