JOB IDENTIFICATION:

Job Title: Head Dive Coach – Arndt Park Pool & Prairie Lakes Aquatic Center

Grade: III

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Department: Recreation

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Aquatic Manger, Aquatic Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Head Dive Coach is responsible for the administration and day to day operations of the Des Plaines Park District Dive Camp.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Supervise divers during practices and other dive team activities. Ensure safety of all participants and staff.
2. Lead daily practices.
3. Train and supervise coaching staff.
4. Serve as the primary communicator to the Aquatic Manager, the Assistant Coach, parents, divers, and other team coaching staff.
5. Coordinate practices and team meetings.
6. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
7. Attend required trainings and meetings.
8. Assist and evaluate the Assistant Coach on time management, practice structure, and overall aptitude for coaching.

OTHER DUTIES:

1. Perform job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work safety rules, and employee handbook.
2. Perform first aid technique and rescue procedures, as necessary.
3. Report any irregular discipline, safety or maintenance problems to the Pool Manager.
4. Prevent accidents by enforcing pool rules and maintaining discipline.
5. Recognize and respond to emergencies, assist with emergency procedures.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school graduate or G.E.D.

Experience: 21 years of age or older, preferred.

Minimum of one years’ experience in coaching competitive swimming or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Strong knowledge of competitive swimming.

Certifications: Must be able to obtain a CPR and First Aid Certification.

Valid Illinois Driver's License.
