POSITION TITLE: MWBE Specialist REPORTS TO: M/WBE Administrator

OVER-TIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 371 (Step 1)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• The Program Specialist will assist the M/WBE Administrator in providing technical assistance to Small Businesses to include starting, sustaining, marketing and financing.
• The position will provide information and assistance with applying for SWaM, DBE and GSA certifications, the DUNS identifier for businesses to establish their credit file with Dun & Bradstreet, and obtaining an EIN number for the Internal Revenue Service.
• The Program Specialist will provide information and resources to small businesses through classes, workshops, webinars and conferences.
• The position will provide assistance with sales growth for Small Businesses by developing an effective strategy to secure local, state and federal procurement contracts.
• The Program Specialist will assist in developing a program to track the success of new and existing Small Businesses that participate in the Small Business Assistance and Youth Entrepreneurship Pilot Program.
• Performs related tasks as required by the M/WBE Program Administrator.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Qualified candidate will have considerable knowledge of business structures, financial documents for state and federal certifications, interviewing techniques, and the ability to use PC, internet and appropriate software applications to manage and report program data. Knowledge of local school/government, state and federal procurement programs. Demonstrated ability to work independently to solve business problems and identify resources that can be used; excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and collectively in a team environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Significant experience in Business Management or economic development with a minimum of 6-10 years of progressively responsible work experience with diversity programs and procurement processes.

Salary Rate Range : $37,000 (maximum)
