WORK CALENDAR: 181 Days, 4 Hours Per Day START DATE: October 2023

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

NOTE: This is a temporary position.

DEFINITION: Under close supervision, assists school bus drivers in maintaining appropriate student behavior on bus for Somerton School District No. 11.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:

Assists the school bus driver in maintaining orderly conduct on the bus; monitors student behavior; ensures students are safely seated; enforces discipline on buses transporting student; reports violations; prepares reports of violations and incidents; may assist students on and off bus; attends safety classes; and performs related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: 

Knowledge of school bus rules and regulations.

Knowledge of District disciplinary procedures related to school bus activities.

Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions.

Skill in preparing violation and incident reports.

Skill in following oral and written instructions. 

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments on a moving bus. Work requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending and lifting up to 30 pounds. May be exposed to physical harm and infectious diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess CPR certification. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
