Children & Families of Iowa is Hiring an Event Coordinator Part-Time Position Near Des Moines, IA

Description

Children & Families of Iowa is in search of qualified candidate to fill the role of an Event Coordinator. This is a part-time non-exempt, in person at our main location and in the community work, 20-28 hours per week with more hours available prior to and after the signature events. The successful candidate with under the general direction of the CDO/VP of Development and Communications and is responsible for the assigned revenue generation, organization, coordination and execution of special events and event related fundraising for the Foundation of Children & Families of Iowa.

Sample Job Duties:

  • Create timetables and marketing plans for assigned events to ensure that objectives and goals are met efficiently and effectively. Work closely with the CDO/VP of Development and Communications in allocating budgetary expenditures to ensure that all events are operating within established budgets. Achieve all event annual revenue goals at 100%.
  • Coordinate event arrangements to include but not be limited to vendors, catering, facility contracts negotiations, decorators, supplies, equipment rentals, entertainment, exhibitor booth rentals, attendees, and special guests. Create and revise room layouts. Coordinate live and silent auctions, solicit auction prizes/donations and deliveries. Always provide a positive guest experience and timely solutions to conflicts. Assist when requested with event registration processing, direct mail, acknowledgements.
  • Assist with preparation and monitor the events budget, prepare monthly projection reports on revenues and expenses, and analyze the cost-efficiency of all foundation internal and external events.
  • Continuously prospect and research sponsors and donors to ensure maximum revenue potential.
  • Assist and motivate volunteers to meet event committee objectives and fundraising goals.
  • Collaborate with the communication team.
  • Build ongoing partnerships and coordinate relationships with a variety of constituents.
  • Support the efforts of board members.
  • Serve as the media spokesperson at events and related activities as needed.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and one to three years of experience in special event planning or meeting planning is required. Raiser's Edge software, event management, non-profit experience preferred but not required. Must be a self-motivator, organized, enthusiastic, have a deep commitment to the philosophy of the agency and exercise personal finesse.
