Full Job Description

Young Scholar is an institution dedicated to the academic enrichment of students from Pre-K through 12th grade. It was started with the student in mind, offering personal student to teacher guidance and allowing maximum understanding and clarification in complicated subjects, such as the ISEE/SSAT, SAT, and Advanced Placement classes. At our institute, classes are specifically designed and tailored to meet the needs of each student.

We are looking for educators that can commit to any given student for the duration of the school year. Our students vary in age and ability, from K-12th grade, gifted to mildly learning disabled.

Ideally, we are looking for educators available to work in:

• San Gabriel Valley area: San Marino, Pasadena

• Orange County: Irvine

Academic Tutors:

• English: literature support through AP and college level, as well as instruction in analytical writing

• History: through AP levels in Modern World, United States, and European History

• Math: Algebra through AP Calculus

• Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Astronomy (through AP level)

• Foreign Languages: Spanish, French, Latin, Mandarin

• Elementary: all subjects (must have classroom teaching experience)

• Standardized Test Preparation: SAT & ACT (must have formal training and prior teaching experience in group or one-on-one sessions)

Qualification:

• Must have a Bachelor's degree or higher

• Prior tutoring or teaching experience required

• Available weekday afternoons and evenings for at least 10-12 hours per week

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.59 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
