MLC is located in Canoga Park in the heart of the San Fernando Valley.

Job Description

We are looking for a Middle School Para Educator with the ability to engage and support all students in an inclusive environment. Para Educators create safe and organized environments for play-based activities, recreation, and mealtimes while also supporting and co-planning with teachers. 

Hourly Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00.

  • Support teachers during instructional time engaging and supporting students individually and in small groups.
  • Co-plan with teachers to design effective and targeted instruction for intervention groups.
  • Collect data during intervention groups and share with instructional team
  • Support schoolwide management systems to create a positive environment.
  • Utilize restorative practices when responding to behavior and help lead restorative meetings between students
  • Support students with academic and/or behavior plans with meeting their goals and reinforcing their efforts
  • Work with students in small groups or one-on-one to provide differentiated support and guidance.
  • Support implementation of student assessments with guidance from teachers
  • Supervise students during passing periods, nutrition and lunch
  • Support arrival and/or dismissal procedures.
  • Proactively respond to needs and situations with a sense of urgency and responsibility
  • Enforce school behavior standards (caring, safety, responsibility, respect and tolerance) while supervising student activity.
  • With your team co-create monthly DAME 5 reinforcement systems during lunch and nutrition and implement them with students.
  • Support student development of social emotional competencies
  • Assist students in meeting their instructional goals, including those identified on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan for students with special needs.
  • Welcome open inquiry, feedback and review.
  • Attend required trainings, staff development and team meetings
  • Discuss future career plans in education and explore opportunities for growth with MLC Leadership.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned by supervisor, Middle School Director

Qualifications

  • A junior or senior university student, an AA degree and/or equivalent schooling and experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with and motivating groups of children while maintaining school standards.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • A desire to serve children.
  • Employment contingent upon clearance of Live Scan and TB test results.
