Jamestown Regional Medical Center is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Wound, Vein and Podiatry Near Jamestown, ND

Type: Part-time, benefitedHours: Flexible Shift: Day

Overview

Starting Pay: $45.69 to $57.11 DOE

Full-time, benefitted position working 80 hours per pay period. Days of work are flexible from 7:00am - 5:00pm.

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the overall success of the Advanced Wound Center as well as provides support for podiatry. This position collaborates with the Medical Director and specialty clinics manager to coordinate services in providing quality care to patients with chronic non-healing wounds through the use of hospital and nursing standards. This includes responsibility for clinical outcomes, reimbursement, performance improvement, and professional/community referral development.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation: Elicit a detailed and accurate history from a patient, perform an appropriate physical examination, and make an assessment and diagnosis from all available information. Initiate, review and revise treatment and therapy plans. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Assess and interpret data reflective of the patient’s status requirements and age specific needs, and provide appropriate care based upon the results of the assessment.
  • Monitoring: Develop and implement patient management plans. Specific to Podiatry: Assist the providers in routine clinic follow-up of patients. Develop and implement patient management plans.
  • Diagnostics: Order or transmit an order for laboratory procedures, screening procedures, therapeutic procedures, radiology procedures, therapeutic diets, physical/occupational therapy, nursing services, and other studies. Initiate arrangement for admissions, complete forms and charts pertinent to the patient’s medical record. Specific to Podiatry: Order or transmit an order for x-ray, other studies, therapeutic diets, physical/occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and nursing services. Order or transmit an order for, perform or assist in the performance of laboratory procedures, screening procedures and therapeutic procedures. Initiate arrangement for admissions, complete forms and charts pertinent to the patient’s medical record, and provide services to patients requiring continuing care, including patients at home.
  • Therapeutics: Knowledge of up-to-date topical wound care products and therapies, including ordering, application, and management of the products on wounds and ostomies, also including negative pressure wound therapy, and hyperbaric. Provides hands on wound care to patients including debridement of wounds by enzymatic, sharp, or autolytic methods when appropriate.Specific to Podiatry: Offer treatment by prescribing medication, performing minor procedures, and coordinating treatment. Provide health education, counsel, and guidance regarding treatment provided, and communicate with patients as appropriate. Perform routine procedures such as injections, suturing and wound care to include debridement of wounds and burns. Perform minor surgical procedures which are customarily performed under local anesthesia, such as removal of foreign bodies from the skin, incision and drainage of superficial skin infections and abscesses, removal of sutures and dressing changes. Manage simple and/or stable chronic conditions and assist in the management of more complex illnesses and injuries.
  • Documentation: Provides legible and timely documentation for care coordination and communication and is compliant with requirements for coding and reimbursement.
  • Promote and participate in marketing to develop referrals within community.
  • Provide continuity of care for patients in collaboration with physicians.
  • Evaluate monthly adherence to the Clinical Pathway.
  • Integrate knowledge of reimbursement into patient communication, collaborating with third party payors and professionals as needed.
  • Responsible for clinical oversight for the treatment of hyperbaric patients.
  • Participates and attends designated meetings, drills, and in-service programs.
  • Attends mandatory programs and maintains required certification per hospital policy.
  • Maintains clinical experience by completing annual competency evaluations and attending educational offerings. Ensures recertifications are kept current and appropriate to position/policies.
  • Follows disaster procedures. Utilizes standard precautions and aseptic techniques. Follows guidelines for infection control and isolation. Investigates and reports incidents per risk management policy.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.
  • Participates in orientation of new personnel and performance evaluation of fellow peers.
  • Assists in the development, revision and implementation of department policies, and procedures.
  • Vein Ablations Only: Assists in the evaluation, pre, post, and follow up care of the patients undergoing vein treatment. Follows the patient through from clinic setting to procedure and documents this in the medical record. Acts as the point of contact in collaboration with the department managers and radiologist for all aspects of patient care.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Must be a graduate from a nurse practitioner training program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Must have successfully completed the certifying examination of the National Commission on Certification of Nurse Practitioner. Must hold licensure/registration as required in the state of North Dakota. DEA certification required. Position is required to attend Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training in the appropriate timeframe according to department orientation checklist.

Prefer previous experience as a NP with preference for wound management experience. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate that during the past 12 months he or she has been actively involved in the clinical practice as a nurse practitioner and has provided inpatient and outpatient services to a reasonable number of patients, which can be documented.
