PathPoint is excited to welcome a new part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our ACCESS team in Northridge, CA. ACCESS is a day program that provides skills training and support to adults with physical and developmental disabilities while in the community.
About Us: PathPoint is a non-profit dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and young adults in living the life they choose. Through strengthening workplace abilities, developing essential life skills, and fostering meaningful relationships, we serve communities in Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
Schedule: This is a part-time position, 25-29 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-1:00pm.
Starting Pay: $18.50 per hour. The pay range for this position is $16.00-$22.89. (subject to change based on a variety of factors).
How You'll Make a Difference: As a DSP, you will develop and teach invaluable life skills to the people we support, helping foster independence. The curriculum for our programs includes communication skills, money management, housing, public transportation and self-advocacy. Additionally, vocational skills are taught to prepare for entry-level employment. You will also have the opportunity to lead groups on community outings for recreation and volunteer opportunities.

Who We're Looking For:

• Patience, compassion, and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
• Someone who demonstrates strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills.
• Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and 5 years of driving experience to be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.
• Culturally sensitive and aware of differences in employees based on cultural backgrounds; aware of one's own culture and how someone's background may lead to biases; has the skills and resources needed to work with employees from all different cultures and the ability to avoid making biased assumptions based on someone's culture.
