Ashland School District is Hiring a Part Time- Long Term Sub Position- SPED Teacher Near Ashland, MA

Special Education Preschool Teacher: Specialized Programming 

Long Term Substitute Part Time - Monday -Thursday 11:45am-3pm

Immediately- End of the School Year (February 1- June 17, 2024) 

Ashland Preschool is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a specialized program SPED classroom teacher. Our specialized program classrooms provide a high teacher to student ratio that supports scaffolding the curriculum to meet the foundational learning needs of our students, in an individualized and small group setting.

Classrooms provide a play based learning environment that focuses on all aspects of development and IEP programming in meaningful learning moments. Our program provides inclusion opportunities based on individual student profiles. 

Job Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and assessment of early childhood curriculum and instruction.
  • Developing and modifying lessons to provide entry and access points to the curriculum as well as IEP programming needs.
  • Monitoring student understanding and adjusting instructions, materials, or assessments when appropriate.
  • Management of the classroom environment.
  • Coordinate with a team of teaching staff, related service providers, and administrators to ensure individual student’s abilities and needs are being met.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Educational Program (IEP) service delivery and programming.
  • Collect and analyze data for student performance (general education and SPED).
  • Assist in training and give guidance to the teaching assistant.
  • Communicate effectively with the Team and parents as needed as well as creating a weekly newsletter for your classroom.
  • Perform other responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by the Principal/Early Childhood Director/SPED Coordinator.
  • Participate in Faculty/Curriculum meetings.
  • Act as a SPED Liaison and attend team meetings.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of both Early Childhood developmental curriculum, skills and overall child development.
  • Knowledge of Special Education regulations, principles and how to differentiate for specific student programming.
  • Ability to utilize computer network systems and software.
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents and collegial teams. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain a collaborative environment with working relationships throughout the building and across roles. 
  • Ability to support students through all aspects of learning, especially daily living skills (lifting, toileting, feeding, etc. )

Licensure

  • Special Education - Severe Multiple Disabilities
  • Early Childhood- Preferred
