Job Summary
This position includes but is not limited to primarily maintaining campus buildings, equipment, and grounds by resolving submitted work orders for repairs, furnishings and preventative maintenance.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with and leads event set-up and tear-down responsibilities as assigned.
  • Responds to Work Orders in a timely fashion, with a can-do posture of customer service.
  • Handles and operates power and hand tools safely.
  • Utilizes ladders safely: from 6-foot stepladders to 30-foot extension ladders, within the equipment safe working limits.
  • Makes use of campus equipment by administering full safety applications.
  • Keeps records of building and grounds maintenance and repairs via the established maintenance software.
  • Work individually and as a team member in all areas of an ever-changing and evolving set of unlimited responsibilities.
  • Collaborates positively with colleagues, staff, vendors, students and visitors.
  • Presents self in a clean and professional manner, including appropriate attire that may consist of employer-provided uniforms.
  • Works with internal customers and external vendors in a positive and productive manner.
  • Reliably arrives to work on time and able to function effectively and independently without constant supervision.
  • Offers ideas and suggestions for optimum operations and expense savings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualification Requirements
  • Basic experience in building maintenance preferred including but not limited to drywall, plaster, painting, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Organization skills involving Inventory, work, and equipment records.
  • Thorough by completing tasks in full to completion, including cleaning jobsite as needed.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Computer experience includes basic knowledge of Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Conscientious with an eye for detail.
  • High School diploma.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license or be able to obtain one at the time of employment. Must have a suitable motor vehicle record to be insured under the University’s auto insurance policy.
  • Preference given to the ability to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission and ability to drive while towing a utility trailer.
  • May be required to obtain certification to operate an aerial work platform.

  • The position requires a strong ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing, utilizing tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Listening skills and the ability to speak and write clearly are essential to this position. Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The employee must have high personal motivation, with great attention to detail and accuracy.
  • This person must project a positive, vibrant and professional attitude in assisting people.
  • This person must have high ethics of honesty and confidentiality, with a genuine and gracious presence pertaining to the students, faculty, staff and business of the department and the University.
  • This position may require lifting up to 50 lbs, as well as bending, stooping, kneeling.
