Description

SUMMARY

The Part Time Trainer assists the Training Department with all aspects of the training program including: facilitating trainings, observing and coaching direct care staff on the floor, completing required training documentation, and maintain evidenced, quality trainings. The Part Time Trainer works closely with the Training Department and Residential Management to ensure that the training program meets the needs of programs and fulfills County, Joint Commission, and CCL training requirements. To perform this job effectively, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for assistance with all aspects of Residential training, including writing and conducting trainings, ensuring quality care and responses are delivered by observing direct care staff and providing in vivo coaching and modeling.
  • Conduct observations and provide coaching to direct care staff on the floor. Assist in overseeing the Intervention Toolbox training program (e.g. rating sheets, observations, database).
  • Assist in maintaining a training calendar and scheduling staff in a timely manner.
  • For all trainings, ensuring a training sign-in sheet is presented to attendees and an evaluation sheet is presented at the conclusion of each training. Submit sign-in and evaluation sheets to necessary departments.
  • Assist in reviewing the Overdue and Upcoming Training report to identify and schedule staff in trainings.
  • Assist in onboarding new Residential counselors, including but not limited to: SPA, Residential Counselor training, Intervention Toolbox, Active Shooter Training, IDEA training, Block, curriculum development, and coordination of Shadowing/Mentoring for direct care staff.
  • Work with Training Specialist, Supervisor of Training, Director, Program Managers, Operations Managers, and Clinical Supervisors in developing and implementing annual training calendar for residential and day treatment staff, ensuring requirements of CCL, CA Alliance, Joint Commission and other oversight entities are met.
  • Work closely with Director, Program Managers, Operations Managers and Clinical Supervisors in ensuring trainings meet current programmatic needs.
  • Assist with new hire orientation as needed.
  • Seek, assist and collaborate with all Center programs and departments for shared training opportunities.
  • Ability to effectively develop, organize and present information to management, employees, and public groups.
  • Immediately reports any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents in their department and or organization to immediate supervisor.
  • San Diego Center for Children may redeploy staff as needed to ensure operational needs are meet for the safety of our organization, youth and staff. For the purpose of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, SDCC may be required to modify work schedules, job duties/functions or assignments as needed with minimal to no notice.
  • Perform special projects and other related duties as required.

Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid CA Drivers License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School diploma or GED or foreign education equivalent
  • Two years of full-time minimum experience working with children or adolescents in a residential child care facility
  • One year experience in a leadership or mentor role

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field
  • Training/public speaking experience and EXCEL proficiency
  • Four years of relevant experience in residential treatment facility
  • Trainer Certified in:
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR)
    • Standard First Aid
    • Safe and Positive Approaches (SPA)
